Childcare

• MPS has childcare services for emergency/health professionals: Email: mpls.kids@mpls.k12.mn.us or call 612.806.1602.
• YMCA has opened childcare for essential employees and critical workers. Space is limited, register here.

Food/meals

• MPS is providing weekly meals to any children at locations around the city while schools are closed due to COVID-19; see where these sites are and related information.
• YMCA locations throughout the City are providing free bags of food to families in need
• City of Minneapolis website for food shelves, state resources, updates on the city response.

Free Wifi

• The City of Minneapolis is providing free WiFi in Minneapolis for those who may need temporary internet access during the COVID situation. 

Education/enrichment resources

• Hennepin County Library has now made library eCards available for patrons to get immediate access to:
  • Downloadable ebooks, audiobooks, magazines and videos
  • Use library databases to access services that support employment, personal and professional development, and research
  • Access online tutors and homework help

Insurance, healthcare and social services resources for MPS families

• MPS Family Resource Center- provides insurance resources and social services for families and students at Minneapolis Public Schools.
• ​Losing your health insurance through your job?  You may quialify for a special enrollment period through MNsure.

Other community resources

• United Way 211 provides free and confidential health and human services information for people in Minnesota. Assistance is available in all languages. Phones are answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. United Way 211 can connect families with resources and information including food and clothes. Call 211 or 651.291.0211.  
   
• YMCA Youth Resource Line is for youth and young adults facing homelessness, eviction, unemployment and more during this community crisis.  This is a free and available for youth and young adults ages 12-24.  Call 763-493-3052.
   
• Eviction Prevention Efforts: HUD/FHA: foreclosure and eviction moratorium for single family homeowners with FHA mortgages for next 60 days (effective March 18, 2020).

• Emergency Assistance- While Human Resource Centers are closed, they are still accepting application for EA. Families can apply by:
  • Calling and getting an application mailed to them 612-596-1900
  • Submitting an online application

• Managing the stress and threat of COVID-19
