Students at "We Day", October 2013

As a major urban school district we have a more diverse, more complex body of students than most districts in Minnesota. That diversity is one of our greatest strengths. Our urban educational experience will help prepare you to become an active, continuously learning and contributing global citizen.

We are here for you. Pure and simple. It is you, the students, and your personal victories, your struggles, your humor and your ambitions that compel us to do the very best we can every day.

You are the heart of who we are. Every one of you has outstanding potential, and it is our duty to help you realize that potential.

Info you should know:

MPS Athletics

The Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) Athletics Department offers 35 high school programs for students in grades 7-12.

CityWide Student Leadership Board

We are a diverse embodiment of student voice that provides counsel to adult leaders.

Behavior Standards Policy

The Behavior Standards Policy will positively impact all students—those who are struggling and those who are not. Training and resources for our instructional staff members will support more effective learning environments across the board, enhance classroom management practices and also help to redirect behaviors positively. Over 1,000 students, families and staff members helped us develop the new MPS Behavior Standards Policy that increases the amount of quality time students spend learning.
